Harz Baumkuchen

The Baumkuchen tradition in the Harz Mountains dates back to 1749, when Hermann Schröder opened his "First Baumkuchen and Castle Cake Factory" in Wernigerode. At the Baumkuchenhaus Harz in Wernigerode, this tradition is continued in a unique setting.

In the on-site café, guests can sit indoors or outdoors and treat themselves to Baumkuchen and coffee specialties. The shop also offers all varieties of Baumkuchen to take home. There's even an online shop for reordering.

A small exhibition room provides information about the history, production, processing and distribution of this unique pastry.

The Baumkuchenhaus is equipped for people with disabilities, is barrier-free and has its own parking lot.

Opening hours:
Wednesday to Saturday 10am – 18pm
