The Rübeland stalactite caves (Baumannshöhle and Hermannshöhle) are among the oldest and most famous show caves in Germany. They are situated amidst the unique natural scenery of the Harz Mountains, nestled in the Bode Valley, in the cave village of Rübeland. As a geological natural monument, they are unique and fascinating: they lead down into an adventurous underground world with colorful and imaginative stalactites and stalagmites.
In the Baumannshöhle cave, you will find not only a remarkable wealth of diverse stalactite and stalagmite formations, but also the Goethe Hall with its underground natural stage and space for up to 270 guests. Theater performances, concerts, and even weddings are regularly held here.
The Hermannshöhle cave impresses with its unique crystal chamber and the Olmensee lake, which is home to Germany's only cave salamanders.
The caves maintain a constant temperature of between 8° and 9°C year-round. Sturdy footwear and warm, comfortable clothing are recommended for your visit.
