Round tour around Blankenburg (Harz)

18 km – about 1:40 h – moderately difficult

Starting at the Schlosshotel Blankenburg, the trail leads past the Thie fountain, the sandstone caves, the Mönchemühlenteich pond, the Hubertus spring, Michaelstein Monastery and back to the hotel via the Schlossberg.

The caves and the monastery are well worth a visit. With a small detour, you can even include a climb to the Regenstein castle ruins in the tour.

Round trip along the Devil’s Wall to Quedlinburg

44 km – approx. 3.5 h – difficult

The route takes you from our hotel along the Devil’s Wall in the direction of Timmenrode, via Warnstedt and Thale to Quedlinburg and back via Westerhausen and Börnecke. Along the way, you will see the most beautiful rock formations of the famous Devil’s Wall.

We recommend a photo stop at the Hamburg coat of arms as well as a stop in Thale (Hexentanzplatz) and in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Quedlinburg.

Mountain tour towards Elbingerode

32 km – about 3.5 h – difficult

This challenging, hilly tour leads westwards over the castle hill of Blankenburg via Michaelstein Monastery. Past beautiful highlights, such as the Volkmarskeller and Büchenberg mine, over meadow and forest paths to Elbingerode.

Here in Elbingerode it is worth stopping for a bite to eat and the Büchenberg show mine is well worth a visit.

Round trip to Wernigerode

38 km – about 3.5 h – difficult

This cycle route runs via the fish breeding ponds, Michaelstein Monastery, Eggerode Fountain and Christianental Wildlife Park directly to the old town of Wernigerode. On the way back, the route passes Benzingerode with fantastic views of the Harz Mountains and the Birkental valley.

A visit to the wildlife park is worthwhile at any time of year and the old town and Wernigerode Castle are well worth seeing.

Round trip to Halberstadt

50 km – about 4 h – difficult

The route starts at our castle hotel and first leads in the direction of Benzingerode. The route then runs past Derenburg to Halberstadt – the gateway to the Harz Mountains. The way back leads via Harsleben and Börnecke.

Tip: In Derenburg, it is worth stopping at the Harzkristall glass factory and in Halberstadt you should definitely visit the medieval cathedral and the cathedral treasury.

The R1 leads through Saxony-Anhalt from Lutherstadt Wittenberg via Dessau, Köthen, Bernburg, Staßfurt, Ballenstedt, Blankenburg and Wernigerode.

The “Brunhildenritt”, an enduro trail that is easy in the upper section and moderately difficult in the lower section, offers a variety of riding fun.

Beginners can try out the easy “Harzer Roller” trail or the winding “Bodopass”. Very daring mountain bikers get the right adrenaline kick on the fast-paced “Rosstrappendownhill”.

74 MTB circular routes with a length of 2,300 km and 50,000 meters of altitude difference

The Harz Mountains are an Eldorado for mountain bikers. The Volksbank Arena offers a huge network of trails for this. The EL 3 route “Harte Wald-& Wiesentour” starts from Blankenburg, an exciting uphill and downhill tour through an extensive forest and meadow landscape, mostly on gravel and forest paths. The starting point is our hotel parking lot. The moderately difficult route is 52.7 km long and can be completed in 4.5 hours.
